Katsushika Hokusai

Katsushika Hokusai may not be a household name, but his most well-known work Under the Wave off Kanagawa, more commonly known as The Great Wave, is one of the most recognizable images in Japanese art.

Hokusai was a prolific artist, creating over 30,000 works. He also moved 93 times and changed his name at least 30 times—with his tomb bearing his final name: The Old Man Mad About Painting.
